Avocado Green Smoothie: the winner to all busy mornings
Being a night owl, many of my mornings are filled with laughable hardships – from the moment my alarm painfully goes off, to the ultimate moment of acceptance.
Like many others, I currently have a full-time job that requires my full attention at 9 AM each morning, and it’s always been a struggle for me to find my own “morning routine” to look forward to, especially when my body refuses to wake up.
To fight through the time crunch, I have found the ultimate way of getting my breakfast fix in the morning, and that is my hearty smoothies packed with a variety of fruits and vegetables, which I prepare and store in the freezer in advance.
My magic bullet blender, which I’ve had since university days has been absolute life-saver in my busy mornings, as it’s as easy as adding ingredients to the cup, blending it for a few seconds, and popping in the lid to be taken on-the-go.
The entire process requires about 5 minutes at most, and the result is a hearty and delicious smoothie to prepare your body and mind for the day!
How do you make an Avocado Green Smoothie?
As you can tell from the influx of smoothie posts on my Instagram, I have an avid obsession with smoothies not only due to their nutritional benefits but their delightful taste.
This Avocado Green Smoothie has to be one of my absolute favorite combinations, and one that I put together in most of my busy mornings. It is creamy, delicious, full of flavor, and topped with pistachios, a drink that is truly heaven-sent.
It requires a few simple ingredients, including:
- 1 medium ripe avocado
- 1 medium ripe banana, frozen
- 1 cup spinach, frozen. This can be substituted with other greens of choice if needed (kale, rainbow chard)
- 1 1/2 cup milk, to be substituted with almond or soy milk for a dairy-free option
- 1 tbsp of yogurt, can be skipped for a dairy-free option
- Optional add-ins:
- 1 scoop plain or vanilla protein powder
- 1 tbsp seed of choice (hemp, flax, sesame, chia, sunflower, etc.)
- chopped pistachios for serving
As smoothies are best served chilled, I highly recommend preparing these ingredients in advance to be ready for any morning you need them.
I often buy a bulk of each banana, avocado, spinach, cut them into small pieces, and store a generous amount of each ingredient in separate freezer-safe plastic bags to be stored in the freezer.
They should be ready after about 6 hours of storage, although next-day preparation is preferred.
Having these ingredients in the freezer stocked up and ready will be an absolute life-saver in your busy mornings. It’s also easy to make multiple servings at once for your loved ones, truly a winner in my books!
I hope you enjoy this delicious recipe. Sending you lots of love in these difficult times. ♡ Have an incredible day ahead, and please leave me a comment or message me on Instagram for any questions!
