With the help of WOULD U COOK Japchae kit, Korean glass noodle stir-fry can be made within 15 minutes with only a few simple steps! Japchae, made with sweet potato noodles and stir-fried vegetables, remains to be one of the best-loved Korean dishes enjoyed by many around the world. The chewy texture of the noodles and flavorful notes make it highly addictive, but also traditionally require a lot of time and effort to make.
This is the second product I had the opportunity to review from WOULD U COOK, shortly after the Bulgogi Kit. Their mission remains the same across all products, in that the meal kits are designed to make Korean cooking easy and accessible to anyone around the world. All of the meal kits are now available on Amazon to purchase for international customers.
As Japchae is one of my personal favorite Korean dishes, I was truly excited to try it this particular kit. Japchae, due to its traditionally complex process, is often served at gatherings to treat guests along with other Korean dishes. It can be served as a side dish to complement a meal, or on its own with a side of rice if preferred. It is a highly versatile dish that can be made with a wide variety of meats and/or vegetables to make up for its flavorful taste and complementary textures.
Components of the WOULD U COOK Japchae Kit
Similar to the Bulgogi Kit, most of the ingredients are provided in the kit with the exception of a few fresh ingredients including onion, carrot, and chives for this particular kit. Upon opening this meal kit, the provided components were as follows:
- Instructions manual with recipe & tips, which provides step-by-step directions and exact measurements to follow along with a video tutorial linked through a QR code (displayed in English, Chinese, and Japanese)
- Glass noodles
- Dried shiitake mushrooms, to be prepared for stir-frying
- Japchae sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds
With the supplementary ingredients of sliced onion, julienned carrots, and chives, preparation is incredibly straight-forward and simple. The 15-minute process involves boiling the noodles for preparation, then straight to stir-frying which only takes a few minutes until completion. Top with the provided sesame oil and sesame seeds and voilà, a plate full of Japchae, made to perfection with such minimal effort!
The completed dish
The result of the meal kit was splendid as usual. The versatility of the dish also allows for more creativity if preferred, for you to add any of your favorite vegetables and/or meat to the mix. This Japchae however, contained the core ingredients to complete the diverse flavorful notes found in the traditional dish. With its simplified process and convenience, I would definitely recommend the meal kits to anyone that is new to Korean cooking, or even experienced home-cooks who are looking for easy meal preparation options. Working full-time, it can be quite of a challenge to meal-prep daily, but meal kits like this make the process so incredibly easy and effortless.
